Ad Products

Ad products define the type and placement of advertisements within the Uber platform. Each ad product has unique behavior characteristics and appears in specific locations to maximize visibility and engagement with target audiences.

What are Ad Products?

An ad product determines two key aspects of your advertising:

  1. Ad Behavior: How the ad functions and is displayed (e.g., elevated positioning in lists, featured placements, or display slots)
  2. Ad Placement: Where the ad appears within the Uber Eats experience (e.g., search results, home feed, storefront pages, checkout flow)

Sponsored Listings elevate your store’s visibility by featuring it prominently in key areas of the Uber Eats app.

Placements:

  • Uber Eats home feed
  • Uber Eats search results
  • Storefront pages
  • Pickup filter results

Sponsored Search ads appear exclusively when customers are actively searching for restaurants, making them highly relevant to user intent.

Placements:

  • Uber Eats search results only
  • Cuisine category filter results (e.g., when users tap on category filters like “Italian” or “Asian”)

Sponsored Item ads promote individual products within grocery and retail storefronts.

Placements:

  • Grocery & retail storefront pages (section carousels, category pages)
  • In-store search results
  • Checkout interstitial

Sponsored Brands ads showcase a brand with a custom creative and a curated selection of products. Unlike other ad products, Sponsored Brands require a creative_id referencing a creative that has been created and approved in Ads Manager.

Placements:

  • Grocery & retail storefront pages (brand showcase banners)
  • In-store search results

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 GTIN items per ad group
  • A creative_id on each ad, referencing a pre-approved creative from Ads Manager

Ad Product Eligibility by Account Type

The account_type on an AdAccount determines which ad products that account is allowed to create campaigns for. The matrix below summarizes eligibility:

Account Type Sponsored Listing Sponsored Search Sponsored Item Sponsored Brands
OFD
USER_STORES_GROUP
CPG
NON_ENDEMIC_ADVERTISER
AGENCY
INTERNAL
UNKNOWN

Attempting to create a campaign for an ad product that the account type is not eligible for will be rejected with a validation error.

Creative Support by Ad Product

Ad products also differ in whether they accept custom creatives. Only Sponsored Brands does today; the others serve a default creative generated by Uber. See Creative Support by Ad Product for the full matrix.
